AICN が掲載した、本作のテスト試写に招かれた観客のレビューによれば、惨劇の場所や、登場人物こそ違うものの、映画の内容は、ジョン・カーペンター監督の「遊星からの物体X」(1982年)を、ほぼ忠実にリメイクしたようなもので、軽快なテンポで進むホラー･アクションに、観客は恐れ慄いてビックリし、存分に楽しんでいた…！！とのことで、現代版としての目新しさには欠けるものの、「遊星からの物体X」のお決まりを期待して来た観客は、まず満足できそうな新作に仕上がっているそうです…！！









…といった、最新作の「ザ・シング」が、ジョン・カーペンター監督の「遊星からの物体X」の冒頭につながる前日譚のプリクエール映画と銘打ちながらも、実際はリメイクに近いのでは…？！というのは、先々月7月半ばに初公開された予告編を観た時点で、充分に感じとられていたのですが、上 ↑ の新たにリリースされた短い予告編は、その予感の手応えをさらに後押しして、本作の実態が焼き直しであることを、より鮮明に示して観せた感じですね…！！

ユニバーサル映画が配給の「ザ・シング」の戦うヒロインとして、南極のノルウェー隊観測基地に赴任する古生物学者のケイトは、「スコット・ピルグリムVS.ザ・ワールド」(2010年)の DVD/Blu-ray が好評発売中のメアリー・エリザベス・ウィンステッド。共演は、トム・ハーディAKAベインと兄弟対決する総合格闘技映画「ウォリアー」が全米公開中のジョエル・エドガートン。テレビシリーズ「LOST」のアドウェール・アキノエ＝アグバエ。バカ映画「ビール・フェスタ 無修正版/世界対抗・一気飲み選手権」（2006年）のエリック・クリスチャン・オルセンです。監督は、これがデビュー作となるCMディレクターのマティス・ヴァン・ヘイニンゲン・Jr 。全米公開はいよいよ来月10月14日からです…！！
